Established name in international wine transport
Over the past decades, Taerwe has grown into an established name as an international wine transporter. For many decades, we operated from our location in Sint-Pieters Leeuw, near Brussels. After the acquisition by RH Trans in early 2024, the company moved to Brecht, in the north of the Antwerp Kempen region. This gave Taerwe not only more strength. At our new home base, we have much larger storage capacity. Moreover, the activities of Taerwe and RH Trans are highly complementary. We continue under the same motto: "You ask, we drive."
Acquisition in early 2024
For many years, Taerwe has relied on the services of RH Trans for carrying out wine transports from France. This strong partnership eventually led to an acquisition.
Ideal candidates
Company director Marc Taerwe—already the third generation—had no family successor, which gradually necessitated a company sale. Rudy Verstraelen and Heidi Beckers, directors of RH Trans, were the ideal candidates.
Guarantee of continuity
Due to the already established expertise in wine transport and its own fleet, an acquisition by RH Trans offered the best guarantee of continuity. Rudy and Heidi themselves spent years behind the wheel of the truck. This makes them the perfect planners and organizers for any international wine transport. Marc Taerwe will remain on board as an employee for quite some time to transfer all knowledge.
Extra growth potential
RH Trans has more central storage space in Brecht, so the acquisition meant additional growth opportunities in addition to a move. Due to its former location in Sint-Pieters Leeuw, Taerwe built up a large loyal customer base in Brussels and Wallonia. The current location in Brecht offers additional growth potential for new customers from Antwerp, Limburg and the region around Liège.
Perfectly complementary with RH Trans
Since the takeover, Taerwe and RH Trans have been sister companies and perfectly complementary.
While Taerwe focuses on international wine transport and the associated distribution to Belgium, RH Trans organizes groupage and frequent transport to France.
Storage and transhipment in Brecht
For both activities, storage and transhipment take place in the same warehouses in Brecht. This keeps empty runs to a minimum.
Both companies benefit greatly from this complementarity, which translates for customers into extremely competitive prices.
